- - Version 1.01 22.III.95 -
- By Ben Vost
-
-
- This is a tool that should work with any Internet connection on the
- Amiga that uses the UULIB: assign. It lets you pick and choose
- newsgroups from a list and add them to your list for downloading. It
- won't alter the NOS-startup script so you'll still have to edit that
- manually (move to AmiTCP :) ).
-
- It was written using CanDo 3.0 and requires the supplied
- cando.library (in libs:). Sorry about the *enormous* ASCII Art logo,
- but I just got Photogenics and I wanted to try it out. :)
-
- Requirements
- ------------
-
- As far as I know it should run on any Amiga with an AmiTCP
- installation (and possibly a Demon account :)). I have tested on an
- Amiga 3000 and 3000T running WB3.1 and also an A4000/040 running
- WB3.0. I don't think that there is a reason why it shouldn't run on
- an earlier operating system, but you do need the Xen/8 and
- XHelvetica/11 fonts in your fonts: drawer for it to look good (it
- might not work without it). These fonts come with Magic WB amongst
- other things. If you can't find them I can EMail them to you...
-
- You must also have the file "newsgroups" in UULIB:
-
-
- Buttons
- -------
-
- Newsgroups Source:
-
- This button brings up a file requester where you can choose a new
- source for your newsgroups file.
-
- Newsgroup Dest.:
-
- This button brings up a file requester where you can choose your
- destination newsgroup (ie. newsgroups.* file).
-
- Add:
-
- The add button adds the currently selected entry in the left-hand
- list to your newsgroups file. It uses the "Days" slider setting to
- set the number of days for trimnews.
-
- Delete:
-
- The delete button removes the currently selected entry from your
- newsgroups list.
-
- Save:
-
- the Save button saves the newsgroups list on the right-hand side as
- your actual newsgroups list. If you don't click on this button, none
- of the changes you make will be saved.
-
-
- Tooltypes and their meanings:
- -----------------------------
-
- WindowX Gives the final x position of the Group Editor window
- on the screen.
-
- WindowY Gives the final y position of the Group Editor window
- on the screen.
-
- Grouplist This is the complete path for a newsgroup list like
- Demon's "Active" one which can be found at
- ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/news. You can also stop
- nntptransfer from deleting the new newsgroups file
- that it downloads every time you download news and
- point group editor at that. (This is why I wrote
- Group Editor:) ).
- Menus:
- ------
-
- Project Menu
-
- About This shows you what version of Group Editor you are
- running and my name and email address. If you
- register this is where your personalisation will
- appear.
-
- About CanDo This gives some information about CanDo v3.
-
- Quit Surprisingly enough, this actually quits out of
- Group Editor.
-
-
-
- To Do List:
- -----------
-
- A search field so that you don't have to wade through all 15,000
- lines worth of newsgroups...
-
- Stop GroupEditor from entering a blank line all the time.
-
- Legal Stuff:
- ------------
-
