  38. This is a tool that should work with any Internet connection on the
  39. Amiga that uses the UULIB: assign. It lets you pick and choose
  40. newsgroups from a list and add them to your list for downloading. It
  41. won't alter the NOS-startup script so you'll still have to edit that
  42. manually (move to AmiTCP :) ).

  44. It was written using CanDo 3.0 and requires the supplied
  45. cando.library (in libs:). Sorry about the *enormous* ASCII Art logo,
  46. but I just got Photogenics and I wanted to try it out. :)

  48. Requirements

  51. As far as I know it should run on any Amiga with an AmiTCP
  52. installation (and possibly a Demon account :)). I have tested on an
  53. Amiga 3000 and 3000T running WB3.1 and also an A4000/040 running
  54. WB3.0. I don't think that there is a reason why it shouldn't run on
  55. an earlier operating system, but you do need the Xen/8 and
  56. XHelvetica/11 fonts in your fonts: drawer for it to look good (it
  57. might not work without it). These fonts come with Magic WB amongst
  58. other things. If you can't find them I can EMail them to you...

  60. You must also have the file "newsgroups" in UULIB:

  63. Buttons

  66. Newsgroups Source:

  68. This button brings up a file requester where you can choose a new
  69. source for your newsgroups file.

  71. Newsgroup Dest.:

  73. This button brings up a file requester where you can choose your
  74. destination newsgroup (ie. newsgroups.* file).

  78. The add button adds the currently selected entry in the left-hand
  79. list to your newsgroups file. It uses the "Days" slider setting to
  80. set the number of days for trimnews.

  84. The delete button removes the currently selected entry from your
  85. newsgroups list.

  89. the Save button saves the newsgroups list on the right-hand side as
  90. your actual newsgroups list. If you don't click on this button, none
  91. of the changes you make will be saved.

  97. WindowX        Gives the final x position of the Group Editor window
  98.         on the screen.

  100. WindowY        Gives the final y position of the Group Editor window

  103. Grouplist    This is the complete path for a newsgroup list like
  104.         Demon's "Active" one which can be found at
  105.         ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/news. You can also stop
  106.         nntptransfer from deleting the new newsgroups file
  107.         that it downloads every time you download news and
  108.         point group editor at that. (This is why I wrote
  109.         Group Editor:) ).

  115. About        This shows you what version of Group Editor you are
  116.         running and my name and email address. If you
  117.         register this is where your personalisation will
  118.         appear.

  123.         Group Editor.
